Natura
Louise Tanguay

October 20 to November 27, 2005

As a nature photographer, I am given the task of sharing my vision and my love of nature. I could only hope that in viewing such beauty, that more people begin to love it. It is only natural to want to protect what we love.
Biography
Louise Tanguay’s photographs have been published in many magazines and newspapers including L’actualité, Canadian Geographic, Equinox, the Globe and Mail and Winds, the inflight magazine of Japan Airlines. She has given many slide presentations in Québec and Ontario and has received numerous awards. She was the photographer for five books in the series of guides to the gardens of Québec, published by les Éditions Fides in 2001 and 2002, as well as for the book Les jardins de Métis, Le paradis d’Elsie Reford, published by les Éditions de l’Homme in 2004.
Originally from Hearst, in northern Ontario, she now lives and works in the Outaouais.

Artist Statement
Louise Tanguay photographs nature in its many manifestations. Without using filters, special effects, or computer retouching, she applies her keen artist’s eye and her great professional skills to tracking light, shadow, reflections, colour and movement. Seen through her lens, nature becomes enchanted; it is transformed into poetry. We her viewers are captivated, fascinated and astonished. Through her photography, we discover nature in ways we have never perceived it before, both inspired and inspiring.

Louise has brought together here a collection of photographs from her book Natura, published by Éditions de l’Homme. These photographs were taken in her native northern Ontario, as well as in many regions of Quebec and southern New Brunswick.
